Glynn County PD worker under investigation for stealing from county credit cards

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Glynn County Police Department worker is under investigation for accusations of stealing from county credit cards and for falsifying his time cards.

For people who know Robert Depp, a man who has spent more than two decades working in law enforcement, the charges are hard to believe.

“I’m skeptical that it could be true because he just doesn’t seem like the kind of person that would do that,” neighbor Diane Gregory said.

Depp is accused of using county credit cards for personal use and for falsifying his time cards at his job in support services for the Glynn County Police Department.

Action News Jax tried talking to Depp about the charges but there was no answer at his door.

The Glynn County Police Department had been working on an internal investigation into Depp and contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation March 18, which is now taking the lead on the case.

“That’s accountability,” taxpayer Robin Townsend said. “Of course law enforcement, I would expect them since they’re enforcing the law not to break it and they are likely held to a higher standard.”

It’s unclear whether Depp is still employed with the Glynn County Police Department or if he has been placed on leave.

Gregory said she is hoping her friend and neighbor will be cleared of the charges against him.

“I have a hard time believing it because Bob is just one of the good guys,” Gregory said.

Records with the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office show Depp has posted bond for the charges against him.
