Glynn County police investigating suspicious death over the weekend

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Glynn County Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after a private party Sunday evening.

At approximately 12:40 a.m., the Glynn County Fire and Rescue Department responded to an “unconsciousness” at 1000 Millennium Blvd. The initial 911 callers stated the victim was intoxicated and “fell and busted his head.”

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where lifesaving measures were attempted before the victim succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as 41-year-old Travis Lee Payne of Brunswick, Ga.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a private party was held at the incident location, and during that event, the victim was in a physical altercation with another man. The fight caused the victim to fall and strike his head on the concrete, which resulted in his death.

GCPD has identified the second party involved in the altercation and the investigation is ongoing.
