Gov. DeSantis signs executive order giving Florida’s senior population first-priority for COVID-19 vaccine

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order on Wednesday to give Florida’s senior population first-priority when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said the order will put people ages 65 and older ahead of other non-hospital frontline workers in line for the vaccine.

“I said at the beginning with the initial doses we want to get this out to our senior population, we think that is important for reducing mortality and hospitalizations for COVID-19,” DeSantis said.

He also announced Wednesday that 367,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine have been delivered around the state.

He made the announcements during a news conference at a hospital in Pensacola.
