SJC home catches fire as family away on vacation, SJCFR says

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Fire rescue from St. Johns County responded to a single family home on fire this morning.

At around 6:44 a.m. on Thur., Mar. 16, St. Johns County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 7724 A1A S. As units arrived at 7:31 a.m. they immediately began attacking the flames.

Action News Jax received video of first responders entering the home on the second floor as smoke billowed out of the structure.

SJCFR said that remodeling work was being done. While officials believe that may have been the cause there has been no official word yet. Foul play does not appear to be suspected.

SJCFR also said that no one was home during the fire. The family living there was said to be on vacation.

The fire marshal is conducting an investigation of the true cause.
