More than 900 dogs and cats will be ready for adoption starting Friday at this Jacksonville's Mega Adoption Event at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

Around 200 of the animals were given up because of Hurricane Irma.

“A lot of these animals were surrendered by their owner because they took the animal with them when they evacuated but then upon return they realized they didn’t have anywhere to return to,” First Coast No More Homeless Pets CEO Rick DuCharme said.

It ends at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event will start Friday at 10 a.m.

The event is being held in partnership with the Petco Foundation and First Coast No More Homeless Pets.
