Curfews will start this weekend as Hurricane Irma is projected to barrel up the spine of Florida. Several Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia Counties have mandated curfews to keep residents safe.
Here are the following counties with curfews:
Jacksonville area beaches
A curfew will be in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m Sunday for the City of Atlantic Beach, the City of Neptune Beach and City of Jacksonville Beach. The curfew will be in effect until further notice.
The beaches closed at 10 a.m. and alcohol sales at the beaches will be suspended at 6 p.m Saturday until further notice.
Putnam County
Putnam County has a mandatory curfew until further notice from 11 p.m.-6 a.m.
St. Johns County
St. Johns County officials announced a curfew from 8 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday for the City of St. Augustine Beach, the City of St. Augustine and portions of St. Johns County lying east of the Intracoastal Waterway on the barrier islands.
The curfew will remain in effect nightly until further notice.
Nassau County
Officials instituted a mandatory curfew from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. starting Sunday. The decision to continue to enforce the curfew will be made on a daily basis, officials said.
Clay County
Clay County Officials enacted a curfew effective Sunday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 8 p.m.
Glynn County (Jekyll Island)
Jekyll Island has a nightly curfew in effect from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. until further notice. The Georgia State Patrol has added troopers to the island and DNR law enforcement officers will also be on patrol.
The Jekyll Island Authority said the Georgia Department of Transportation will be closing the Sidney Lanier Bridge at noon Sunday.
Camden County
Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor has announced that a curfew will be in effect until further notice. The curfew is in effect from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily.
Columbia County
While there is not a curfew Columbia County, Florida, county officials request that everyone limit travel on roadways starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.
This is to start clearing the roadways in preparation of Irma.
Bradford County
A travel curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday until 8 p.m. Monday. Only emergency vehicles, utility vehicles and personnel working to restore services affected by Irma should be on the roads of the city during these 24 hours.
The Starke City Commission said all residents are encouraged to avoid any non-emergency travel through the city during the prescribed 24 hours.
Flagler County
Flagler County has issued an emergency order suspending the sale of alcohol starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, and expanding the curfew from just the beachside to include the entire county.
The curfew will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. until further notice.
