Jacksonville Ice and Sportsplex said its ice rink will be out of commission for the next few weeks.
A post on its website dated Wednesday said the "ice plant compressor was rendered inoperable by an unexpected accident" and the staff "could not save the refrigerant which is essential for this piece of equipment to operate."
The post said it could take four to six weeks to restore the ice, but they are hoping to get "safe and clean ice" restored in three to four weeks.
Sportsplex activities will be unaffected by the ice rink closure.
