A Jacksonville animal shelter is getting help from the community after posting about its broken washing machine on Facebook.

Animal Care and Protective Services in Duval County posted a picture Monday of at least 16 carts full of dirty laundry.

The post said one of their washing machines was down.

They asked people to donate used towels, blankets, sheets or comforters and also said people were welcome to bring the laundry to a laundromat or home to wash.

The shelter said many people shared the post and are offering to help out.

The City of Jacksonville said Friends of Jacksonville Animals is recruiting volunteers to take the linens to get cleaned.

The group also offered to purchase a new washer and dryer set for the shelter.
