JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville attorney John Phillips said his firm is offering free legal service to anyone who was on the Miami Air Flight 293 that skidded into the St. Johns River at NAS Jacksonville on May 3.
Phillips said the Law Offices of John M. Phillips currently has eight clients who were in the water crash of Miami Air Flight 293.

Miami Air International officials said Monday the airline was offering "a goodwill gesture" of $2,500 to each passenger of the plane.
In addition to the pro bono services to assist anyone on the plane with recovery of any lost or damaged property, Phillips said his firm is also offering recovery of the $2,500 offer to make sure no rights are waived.
Phillips said his firm would be proceeding in a form similar to a class-action lawsuit.
"We are convinced there was operational, discretionary and/or maintenance negligence which caused this incident and passengers were given no warning at any point about a water crash," Phillips said in a release.
