JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thousands of Jacksonville citizens will gather downtown Monday to honor and remember civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The event is a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. The parade will begin at EverBank Field in Parking Lot “J”, at 10 a.m. and end at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

While people line the streets to honor the slain civil rights leader, road closures will limit traffic on downtown roads.
Road closures will last from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Click this link for a detailed list of road closures and times.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will be using a hold and release traffic pattern until the procession passes each intersection. All traffic will be detoured around the parade area.
Proposed Route:
- Start at the crosswalk by Parking Lot "J" (1 EverBank Field Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32202)
- Proceed westbound on Gator Bowl Boulevard to Bay Street
- Continue westbound on Bay Street to Newnan Street
- Go south on Newnan Street to Independent Drive
- Continue west on Independent Drive to Water Street
- Go west on Water Street to Lee Street
- Head north on Lee Street to Houston Street
- Parade will conclude at the parking lots located at Houston Street and Lee Street
- The parade will end directly north of the Prime Osborn Convention Center located at 1000 Water Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202
