Two days after the completion of a community beautification project, vandals ruined it.
Thousands of dollars, hours of volunteering and a community effort was sabotaged when two men spray-painted over a mosaic wall.
The Inwood Terrace beautification project was designed to restore the area to its natural habitat.
The entire neighborhood got involved in this beautification project. Before the renovations this area was a disaster. This park was full of needles, profanity written on the walls and beer cans everywhere.
Locals spent their time pressure washing, disposing of garbage and even getting permission to put up signs to discourage trash and vandalism.
Also, the community included kids in helping hand-paint a mosaic on the wall with the help from a local artist.
Neighbors such as Mike Swendal told us he can’t believe these vandals caught on the surveillance video had the audacity to take a stencil and paint over this mural.
“We just finished it and we thought people would enjoy this slice of heaven, but instead they’re marring it. It’s heartbreaking,” said Swendal.
Neighbors told us the vandals were able to spray-paint the logo on the mosaic within four minutes.
