Jacksonville councilman leading fight against opioids

As the nation grapples with the opioid epidemic, the push for solutions is coming at every level.

Action News Jax has been covering the local health crisis for more than a year. Just last month we told you how a Jacksonville morgue was filled with bodies linked to overdoses. Here are the three ways federal and local officials are trying to tackle the problem.

-The FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration released a new documentary on drug abuse. Addicts share their struggles in hopes to deter people from using.

-President Donald Trump also ramped up the fight against opioid abuse by announcing a newly formed task force will try to figure out the best way to deal with the nationwide drug problem.

-Councilman Bill Gulliford will host his second town hall meeting Monday at City Hall and will be facilitating discussions on finding solutions.
