JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Day Resource Center is shutting it's doors.
It was a place that helped some of the less fortunate get off the streets.
The center is always closed on Tuesdays because they could only afford to keep it open three days a week, but in just a few weeks the center will be locked and shut down for good.
Locked gates and an empty building is what's next for the Jacksonville Day Resource Center.
Lorenzo Jones said he depends on the center.
"It's been like three or four months and it's bringing me back, putting me back on my feet," said Jones.
From food to showers, to medical services and computers, the center helps those in need.
"Every now and then you might get a hot meal. It's really resourceful," said Jones.
The center's board chairwoman, Dawn Gilman, said it serves 75 people a day when it's open.
"There's got to be funding to run it," said Gilman.

Action News learned he center was funded only by about $170,000 in grants since it opened in 2013, according to Gilman. Gilman said the first year, the center had $120,000 in grant money and $50,000 the second year. Gilman said it was never included in either of the mayor's budgets.
"Once it was not in either mayor's budget, then we knew that the funding was not there to continue the resource center," said Gilman.
She said the City Rescue Mission has provided the building that the center is in right now.
"From the beginning, there was never a guarantee that this would be an ongoing project in our community," said Gilman.
Gilman said they used the pilot program to see if it could be effective, get information on the homeless population and to see if it could sustain itself permanently.
Now they'll be closing and will depend on the other local organizations to help continue the services.
But Jones said he had hoped they could save it.
"I wish that and I pray that they don't take it away," said Jones.
The board chairwoman said each person who visits this center will receive a list of services that they can use when it closes.
Gilman said the center will close no later than the end of the month. The center now has a GoFundMe page. According to the page, it has raised $50 out of the $350,000 goal.
