Significant flooding on Jacksonville streets is preventing elderly people from getting out of their driveways.
Neighbors at Crystal Springs Estates say they’ve contacted management, but they tell Action News Jax nothing is being done.
Residents say the flooding was caused by Saturday’s 20-minute rainfall.
Neighbors say if you have a low-sitting car, water will go into your tailpipe as neighbors try to back out of their driveways.
Neighbor Philip Bloom said the street flooding isn’t allowing him to leave. His car is inches from being submerged.
“The red car wouldn’t make it,” he said. “I managed to do a broken U-turn in my driveway and put it up on the grass with the tailpipe facing this direction.”
When the cars come through, it’s like an ocean here, he said.
Neighbors say they’re on edge about the upcoming thunderstorms. “What really concerns me is when it rains again. We are going to be in serious trouble,” neighbor Bobbie Kahne said.
Neighbors say they want to know why the area is not draining properly or who is going to fix it.
One of the real concerns are the drains in this area.
As for the management company – they haven’t returned our numerous phone calls.
