A Jacksonville contractor is accused of taking money from customers without doing the job.
Action News Jax uncovered multiple complaints against A Blue Pool but the owner says he wasn't aware of them.
David Burton said he wrote a check for $825 to A Blue Pool six months ago.
"I just want my money back," Bruton said.
He said the check was a deposit for the company to fix his fence and repaint the pool deck.
"Came by my job, picked up the deposit check to buy materials and never returned a phone call since," Bruton said.
He said the man who cleans his pool referred Chris Conrad for the job.
When Conrad initially came out to do some work on his pool, Bruton said he did it free of charge because he was late to the appointment.
"Because he was referred and did so well I wanted to give him the business," Bruton said.
Bruton said Conrad never showed up to do the job and then blocked Bruton's number.
"I was basically calling every day until he agreed to refund money and gave him a week or two and that didn't happen," Bruton said.
Action News Jax looked up A Blue Pool on the Better Business Bureau website. It was given an F rating with four other complaints similar to Bruton's situation.
"It's a little shocking. All of us work in business and if you continue to have the same experience, it's never a good thing," Bruton said.
Action News Jax went to A Blue Pool to get Conrad's side of the story. At first, Conrad said he wasn’t the owner.
He then gave a reporter his card and said he was the owner but refused to talk on camera.
When asked about complaints against his business, he said he didn’t remember any.
Bruton said he now plans to take Conrad to small claims court.
"Even if it takes more money to fight it, to me it's just on principle," Bruton said.
Conrad said he officially took over the business two months ago and will try to make things right.
