Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry on Tuesday spoke with owners of the company interested in buying Eureka Gardens.
Last week, Millennia Housing Management filed papers to purchase the property from Global Ministries Foundation.
GMF has been under fire for how rundown its properties are across the country, including Eureka Gardens in Jacksonville.
Curry said the head of Millennia Housing has previous experience rehabbing buildings like Eureka Gardens.
“He said ‘My standard is would I live in the properties I own and acquired?’” Curry said.
Last October, code enforcement agents conducted a mass inspection of Eureka Gardens.
They discovered mold, mildew, gas leaks and several violations that forced GMF to clean up the property.
