JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officers said a man was clinging to a passerby's truck in Cedar Hills asking for help after he was stabbed at least five times near a Jacksonville Walmart.

Jacksonville officers responded to the area of 6767 103rd Street at about 9 p.m. Sunday after reports of a shooting. Officers found a man who was bleeding profusely and used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Napoli said officers followed a trail of blood to the Forest Apartments on 103rd Street.

Officers said the man suffered five to six stab wounds. The victim, who hasn't been identified, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The man clung to a passerby's truck trying to get help, officers said. The victim told officers some people were after him, but could not say where he was attacked.

Officers said they found a pool of blood near another vehicle and a trail of blood that led to an apartment. Broken glass was found at the apartment but no one was home, officers said.

JSO temporarily closed 103rd Street from Norde Drive to Walmart as police investigated the stabbing, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

There are no witnesses or suspect information.

Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and receive a possible reward of up to $3,000.
