Hundreds of people came out to one of three locations in Jacksonville on Wednesday to apply for one of the 4,000 available jobs at Amazon.

Those who attended the locations got free help navigating Amazon's application process online.

"With them coming in actually telling me what to do, hands on, it made it a lot easier," said Sir Evans.

Transforming Communities -- along with several other local organizations -- are teaming up to help people apply online.

"We wanted to make sure that they did not have that challenge and remove any type of challenges that may exist as it relates to applying for these opportunities," said Tameka Holly, Executive Dir. of Transforming Communities.

Several sign-up sheets had already been filled out in the first few hours as people kept streaming in.

Holly said it goes to show just how excited the community is about Amazon.

"It's being reinvigorated to be able to know that the city supports them in their ability to transform their lives and their community," said Holly.

According to Holly, call-backs are expected to happen towards the end of next week.

For Evans, 18, the opportunity means the start of something exciting.

"I think it's a good start for me because I never worked before so this is good experience for me to get in the work field," said Evans.

Those who attend the Amazon Day events will also get the chance to inquire about other companies also searching for local talent.
