The Carolina Panthers added a touchdown run from A.J. Dillon and a pair of field goals from Ryan Fitzgerald in the second quarter to widen their lead over the Jaguars, 20-6.
Much like the Jaguars’ preseason opener last week, an opponent - the Panthers this week - jumped out with an early touchdown and led after the first quarter, 7-3.
After Fitzgerald’s first FG in the second quarter, Panthers’ backup QB Kenny Pickett connected on a 15-yard pass to the Jaguars 7-yard-line. Dillon took it into the end zone on the next play.
Jaguars K Cam Little hit a 34-yard FG late in the second quarter, but Fitzgerald connected from 61 yards to close the quarter.
The Jaguars again did not begin the game with their starters. Instead, backup QB Nick Mullens lined up under center, but the team’s first drive stalled deep in its own end.
Just before the quarter ended, Mullens took the team down the field but was sacked on the 16-yard line. That set up a 33-yard field goal by Cam Little with just over a minute left.
The Panthers began the game with many of their starters, including QB Bryce Young, who drove the team down the field midway through the quarter. The opening quarter’s lone touchdown came from RB Jonathan Brooks from 1-yard-line

The Jaguars kicked off the team’s 2-game preseason home slate at EverBank Stadium.
The stadium, which is undergoing a $1.4 billion rebuild, was looking much different as fans arrived. The upper deck no longer contained seats. There are several lower-level changes, including openings at the corners.
The Jaguars will host two games at the stadium during the preseason this year. It will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the final preseason game on August 28.
