Backup QBs struggle; defenses dominate; and Jaguars lead Buccaneers at half, 3-0

With a 1-1 record, Jacksonville hopes to end preseason on a positive note

Jacksonville QB Carter Bradley, who is battling for a practice squad role, entered the game in the second quarter in relief of Nick Mullens and led the Jaguars on a short scoring drive to account for the game’s only points at the break.

Bradley moved the team 15 yards to near midfield early in the second quarter, where kicker Cam Little blasted a 61-yard field goal to give the Jags a lead, 3-0.

Later in the quarter, the Jaguars recovered a fumble by Buccaneers backup QB Jalon Daniels on the Tampa Bay 15. However, the Jags failed to score after a Bradley pass to Austin Trammell fell incomplete on fourth down.

Near the end of the first half, Jaguars DE Bryan Thomas Jr. - the other player with similar names - sacked Daniels for a loss of 12 yards.

In the first quarter, Mullens and Daniels battled to a scoreless tie in the two teams’ final preseason game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Mullins connected on a 34-yard pass to TE Hunter Long near midfield, but the team’s first drive of the game stalled - and the Jags punted.

On the team’s second drive, Mullins again hooked up with Long, who was shaken up. But the team punted once again.
