JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A group supporting the Jacksonville Armada soccer team is asking the pro league it plans to join if a proposed ownership change is going to be approved to keep a 2027 launch on track.
The Bold City Ultras wrote to the MLS NEXT Pro league - a bridge between elite youth academies and Major League Soccer (MLS) - when it plans to rule on a pending ownership change of the Armada from Robert Palmer to an investor group led by Chris Campione.
“The sale was announced publicly on October 30, 2025,” a letter by Bold City Ultras emailed to Action News Jax read. “Ten months later, the approval has not been issued.”
The supporters group says the ownership change approval by the league is needed because new owners have said they would suspend operations September 4 absent a decision.
The uncertainty also clouds a decision by the city of Jacksonville on an historic Eastside parcel planned for a new stadium for the soccer team, it said. The group’s letter said a decision on the parcel is needed by September 10.
The Armada remain listed on the MLS NEXT Pro website as an “additional MLS-affiliated and independent club” that will join the league “in the years ahead.”
