JaxParks Monopoly Tournament set for May 30 at Main Library

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The fourth annual JaxParks Monopoly Tournament is scheduled for May 30 at the Main Library Downtown. The official Hasbro-recognized competition offers players prizes and the chance to earn the title of ultimate champion.

Located at 303 N. Laura St., the event opens for sign-in at 8:30 a.m. with games starting at 9:45 a.m. The tournament includes an Open Division for participants ages 12 and older and a new Junior Division for children ages 8 to 11.

The Open Division is limited to 72 players and requires a $20 registration fee. This division consists of two qualifying rounds in the morning, followed by a semifinal and a championship round. All tournament rounds are scheduled for 60 minutes.

Advancement in the Open Division follows the Monopoly World Championship scoring system. The top 16 players from the qualifying rounds will move to the semifinals and the top four players will compete in the final championship game.

The newly added Junior Division is capped at 24 players with a $5 registration fee. Participants in this age group will play two 60-minute games during the morning session. The top finisher in the Junior Division will receive a $10 prize.

The deadline to register for the tournament is May 23.
