JSO: 7-year-old and 15-year-old shot Friday night near Edgewood Park

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said they are investigating a shooting Friday night that injured a 7-year-old and a 15-year-old in Allendale.

According to JSO, officers were dispatched to St. Vincent's Hospital around 10:30 p.m. after receiving a call about two children being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to their lower bodies.

Joseph Ellison, the father of one of the boys told Action News Jax reporter Brittney Donovan that a bullet went through his 7-year-old son's knee.

"I don’t have guns, my children know that. He could tell you. I ain't never had no gun, I don’t need no gun the point is that if somebody had one in my house, it's pissing me off," said Ellison.

The officers said the shooting occurred in the 3100 block of W. 15th Street, JSO said.

According to JSO, the incident is being investigated as an accidental shooting at this time based on the statements of the victims and witnesses.
