DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Two people have been arrested for burglary of a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office task force office.

According to JSO, tips from the public helped lead to the arrest of 26-year-old Christopher Dollison and 18-year-old Jazmine Jarvis. Both face two counts of motor vehicle theft, and Dollison faces an additional burglary charge.

The rear door of the task force office on the Northside was pried open between Friday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 26, according to police.

Police tactical vests, multiple sets of portable police blue lights for vehicles, ammunition, a night vision monocular, a bulletproof vest, a black duffle bag with the word "police" on both sides in white letters, and other items of police gear were stolen. No weapons were stolen, according to JSO.

Police did not say if any of the items have been recovered.

After the burglary, the suspects broke into a white Chevrolet pickup truck and damaged the ignition. Then, suspects broke into and stole a white Chevrolet Lumina, JSO said. Officers later found the car, burned, on Alton Box Road.

Action News Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson said there are multiple reasons to be concerned.

"Clearly we don't want people breaking in and taking material that could be used to misrepresent themselves as law enforcement for the civilians," Carson said. "The bigger concern, frankly, is that the Sheriff's Office would have an off-site facility that doesn't have a burglar alarm."

He worries that JSO can only say the burglary happened sometime within a five-day period. However, Carson said most of those items are commonly sold on the Internet.

"They have yet to recover as far as we know any of the material that was stolen, which includes bullet proof vest, red lights and blue lights which obviously are a concern to citizens because if they are used to pull someone over and take advantage of them that's a possibility when they have equipment that police routinely use," Carson said.

Action News called JSO to find out if they have recovered any of the stolen items and if they plan on increasing security to protect police items. JSO said they will not be releasing any new information in the case at this time.
