JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer has non-life-threatening injuries after his cruiser was rear-ended by a truck at Monument and Derringer roads on Wednesday afternoon.
The officer, identified as Sgt. Chris Brown, was taken to the hospital and his family was notified, according to JSO Public Information Officer Christian Hancock.
JSO responded to the crash around 4:30 p.m., Hancock said. Brown's vehicle was stopped at the stop light at Monument and Derringer, about to head east on Monument.
The truck then rear-ended the JSO cruiser, which was pushed into the intersection. This caused the JSO cruiser to hit the driver's side door of a white van. The driver of the van also has non-life-threatening injuries.
Hancock said all weapons in Brown's vehicle were secured. The driver of the truck is cooperating with the investigation and JSO's Traffic Homicide unit will figure out what the driver will be cited with after it is done investigating.
