A person was shot and killed Tuesday near downtown Jacksonville, police said. The shooting happened in the 1000 block of Jessie Street.
The victim was an older black male, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. JSO does not have any suspect information at this time. The victim was over 50 years of age, JSO said.
A crime map within a 1-mile radius of this area show that 30 violent crimes were reported in the last month.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will hold a briefing on the shooting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
