JSO releases images of suspect’s gun and damaged cruiser after fatal officer-involved shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has released images in connection with Sunday’s officer-involved shooting off Dunn Avenue and Mar Vic Lane in North Jacksonville, which resulted in the death of a 32-year-old woman.

At a Sunday briefing, police said three officers followed her on foot for about a quarter of a mile, shouting at her to put her hands in the air, while another officer drove beside them for cover.

After approximately 12 minutes on scene, officials said the suspect pulled out a gun and shot their police vehicle, hitting the driver’s side door.

JSO said three officers shot back at her. She was pronounced dead on scene.

Now, the sheriff’s office has released an image of the alleged gun used by the suspect as well as a photo of the bullet strike on the police vehicle.

Police said they had been searching for the suspect after they received three calls in two days from people saying she was wandering around the neighborhood, pointing her gun at multiple people, including one dog.

Action News Jax is still working to learn the identity of the woman.
