JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 70s is in jail after police say he shot his girlfriend and barricaded himself in his home for hours on Sunday afternoon.
It happened on Sycamore Street in Northwest Jacksonville.
JSO said the man, 78-year-old John Thomas O'Quinn, shot his girlfriend, who's in her late 30s, during an argument.
She got in her car, drove off, and went to the hospital.
"Her injuries are mild at best," said JSO Lt. Kelvin Anderson.
Anderson said O'Quinn barricaded himself in his trailer for hours, but eventually came out and JSO arrested him without any more violence.

JSO kept several blocks of Sycamore Street shut down for hours, even after the arrest.
"For their safety, we cordoned off the street to make sure nobody rode in front of the house, to make sure that if he did fire off the firearm, he wouldn't have any targets as far as innocent bystanders," said Anderson.
Crystal Williams held her fiancé and waited for word that it was safe to get her kids.
"We got a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old back there. I hope they're – you know, they're supposed to be home with mama right now and I'm worried about them," said Williams. "That is close to home and I just want them safe in my arms, as long as I can hold my babies tonight."
Anderson said O'Quinn has no prior arrest history. He faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and shooting/throwing deadly missiles into dwelling.
