JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Colts enter Jacksonville in search of their first win on the road against the Jags since 2014. It comes in the midst of a fire sale as Indianapolis fired Chris Ballard, followed by the trades of Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner. The Jaguars, however, are coming off of a bye week with a 2.5 game lead in the division.
Even outside of Jacksonville, Trevor Lawrence plays some of his best ball against the Colts. In his career, he is 7-2, the second-best record against Indy of any QB since the 1970 merger (Tom Brady: 12-3). He’s thrown 13 touchdowns to four interceptions, posting a 100.3 passer rating.
It may also be the big game from Bhayshul Tuten that everyone has been waiting for. Tuten has 36 forced missed tackles this season, fifth most, and the Colts average 7.5 yards per missed tackle this season, most in the NFL. With Tuten’s combination of elusiveness and speed, we could see him finally get his breakout game.
On the other side of things, one of the best running backs in the NFL faces off against the NFL’s best run-defense. Taylor is the star of Indianapolis and has been for quite some time. Even in a down year for the Colts, Taylor is fifth in rushing yards (587) and tied for first in touchdowns (8).
Jacksonville has yet to allow a 75-yard rusher under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. For the second year in a row, the Jags have the best run-defense in the NFL and are allowing just 3.2 yards per carry. It’s become their identity.
Colts’ quarterback Daniel Jones currently leads the NFL in turnovers (10) and now walks into Jacksonville to face off against one of the most opportunistic defenses in football. The Jaguars’ defense is seemingly built upon their ability to turn the ball over.
Their 40 takeaways since 2025 ranks second-best (Bears: 43).
With the Texans on a bye week, a Jaguars win would cement an early three-game lead in the division. Divisional matchups are always important, but this week is a chance for Jacksonville to take control of the AFC South and their destiny.
