JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is demanding answers and accountability after he says a neighbor’s dogs killed 11 of his turkeys.
It all happened on Warbler Road in Northwest Jacksonville.
For Michael Jaster, his livestock are more than just a responsibility, it gives him a purpose.
“I’m disabled; I’m home all day between the chickens and turkeys; this is my physical therapy; this is what I need to do,” said Jaster.
However, when Jaster woke up to feed his 11 turkeys this morning, he never expected to see his turkeys’ enclosure turned into a graveyard.
“The neighbor’s dogs, again, climbed over my fence, worked their way into the pen, and killed all 11 turkeys,” said Jaster,
Jaster says the turkeys were two months old, and they were supposed to be grown and sold for Thanksgiving dinner.
“Two of these turkeys were supposed to go to the American Legion post for their Thanksgiving dinner, and now I don’t know what I’m gonna do for dinner,” said Jaster. “These are the same dogs that killed my chickens last year that Animal Control has done nothing about.”
We tried to knock on the neighbor’s door, but there was a giant no trespassing sign and one of the dogs was outside.
Jaster says he’s called animal control at least a dozen times since last year. But he doesn’t feel enough has been done.
“I’ve called my city councilman. And it’d be like a month later, animal control call say, oh, we rode by, but we didn’t see no dogs. So they do nothing,” said Jaster. “I want the city to be responsible for my dead animals.”
We reached out to the city of Jacksonville and ACPS and asked if they plan to investigate Jaster’s dead turkeys incident.

September 2025 | Case #259759294
This was our first documented interaction regarding the dogs. Officer Lowery responded and issued the dog owner two citations, one for dog at large and one for a rabies violation.
January 2026 | Case #269854705
Jaster contacted ACPS again regarding the dogs. Officer Lowery responded but did not observe the dogs running at large. At the time of the response, the dogs were behind the property gate. Lowery educated Jaster on the affidavit process so violations that are not directly witnessed by an officer can still be documented and reviewed.
June 24, 2026 | Case #269988758
Jaster contacted ACPS again, this time reporting concerns about the dogs barking.
August 14, 2026 | Case #264031008
Jaster contacted ACPS today and reported that the dogs killed his turkeys. We have not responded to this complaint yet, but due to the history at this location and the reported escalation involving the death of livestock, Mr. Jasper will be called again today to see if we can get more information or proof of who the dogs are.
Overall, this is an address and situation we are familiar with. We have responded to Jaster’s complaints, taken enforcement action when violations were observed, and provided him with information on how to document violations when they are not witnessed directly by an officer.
