The man is expected to survive his injuries, Vorpahl said.

Action News Jax asked if students could be among those who were detained. Vorpahl said it is too early to tell, but investigators are working to make that determination.

Vorpahl said investigators are also working to determine if the person who shot the man is in custody.

On Tuesday morning, there will be additional patrols at Raines High School. Officers will also be present 30 minutes before dismissal and 30 minutes after dismissal, Vorpahl said.

Action News Jax’s Madison Foglio asked Duval County Public Schools several questions about the incident, including if the victim is connected to Raines and we received the following statement:

“The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the incident that occurred near Raines High School, and they would be the best point of contact for additional information or assistance.

“As they shared earlier at the media briefing, there will be an increased police presence around the school and in the surrounding neighborhood out of an abundance of caution.”
