The local mom found dead in her Englewood apartment home has been identified as 26-year-old Cynthia Aviles.
Baltimore police, which is assisting the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, is calling the case a murder investigation.
According to a police report, Aviles had a “severe laceration."
Thursday morning a crime scene van was seen leaving La Esperanza Apartments on University Boulevard where investigators are collecting evidence.
On social media there’s been a huge outpouring of support for Aviles’ family, one woman called her a "great co-worker."
Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Norris Dail, sparked a statewide Amber Alert after police initially couldn’t locate the couple’s 4-year-old son Norris Dail Jr.
The boy was found in Baltimore City after JSO requested that Baltimore Police conduct a check on his well-being. The child is with family in Maryland.
Aviles’ aunt said she went to a hearing that had to do with the boy on Thursday and has been meeting with JSO detectives in Baltimore.
JSO has confirmed that Dail is considered a suspect in his girlfriend’s murder.
According to Maryland court records, last year Dail petitioned for custody of their child but a judge ordered in August of 2015 that both parties will have shared physical custody and joint legal custody on a week-on week-off basis.
Aviles’ family members from the Philadelphia area traveled to Baltimore Thursday once they heard the news.
They are raising money to cover funeral costs on a GoFundMe page.
