Man crushed by 15,000-pound concrete slab

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was crushed by a large slab of concrete Thursday in an industrial accident, according to Jacksonville Fire & Rescue.

The accident was reported on southbound Interstate 295 at Old St. Augustine Road.

A 15,000-pound slab of concrete fell on the man and killed him, according to JFRD.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators told Action News the driver was trying to unload the sound barrier when it shifted off the truck.

Officials said the victim is a truck driver for a Tampa-based trucking company. His identity has not yet been released.

No one else reportedly was injured.
