JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An adult man died Sunday after being found unresponsive at the bottom of a swimming pool at a Southside apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. at Park Avenue Apartments, when a resident walking past the community pool noticed a dark object at the bottom of the water. Upon closer inspection, the resident realized it was a person.
JSO said the resident jumped into the pool and pulled the victim out, then began calling for help. A second resident heard the calls and came to assist.
The two attempted CPR on the victim while also calling 911, JSO said.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department crews responded and transported the man to Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside, where he was pronounced dead.
JSO detectives responded to the scene and are conducting an active investigation.
The man’s identity has not been released.
