Man dies after car strikes two trees in Union County: FHP

UNION COUNTY, Fla. — An 83-year-old man from Lake Butler died Friday night after his car struck two trees in Union County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 9:33 p.m. Friday at Lake Avenue and Southeast 11th Street, according to a Highway Patrol press release.

For undetermined reasons, the car rapidly reversed from a parking spot, crossed Lake Avenue and struck a palm tree, the release said.

The car then continued in reverse and struck a second tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol’s Troop G.
