DCPS: Mandarin High School all clear after code red lockdown

After school activities to resume after all clear

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — DCPS said the code red has been lifted and the school has been cleared for dismissal.

All after school activities will resume as normal.

Action News Jax has confirmed with Duval County Public Schools that Mandarin High School is on a code red lockdown.

  • DCPS tweeted that all students and staff are safe.
  • DCPS released a statement at 1:19 p.m. that said the school was placed on code red lockdown due to allegations that a student was in possession of a firearm.
  • The student has been detained by police and no firearm was found, according to DCPS.
  • Police are searching the school to determine if there is a firearm on campus, according to DCPS.
  • The school will remain on code red will the police search the campus, DCPS said.
  • DCPS is asking parents and guardians to not come to the school at this time because the school is on code red lockdown.
  • DCPS said student dismissal will be delayed.
