A bald eagle named Matthew that was hit by a car last week is doing better.
B.E.A.K.S, the organization that brought Matthew back to health, says he was stuck in a car's grille.
He’s now able to stand on a perch and is eating.
Neighbor Billi West described the moment she saw him get hit.
“We were on highway 17 and an older gentleman was coming the other direction and the bird had landed in front of him and couldn’t stop,” said West.
She says she followed the man until he stopped and others helped free Matthew. B.E.A.K.S founder says they’ll assess his situation Friday and then decide when they’ll release him.
