Mother of Lonzie Barton, Ruben Ebron in court 4 months after disappearance

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It's been four months since Lonzie Barton was reported missing.

Lonna Lauramore Barton, the boy's mother, and her boyfriend, Ruben Ebron, were in Duval County Court Tuesday morning.

Police believe that Lonzie was murdered, however no one has been charged in connection with his death.

Lauramore Barton and Ebron will be partially tried together on the charges of on the charges of child neglect and giving false information to police.

Both defense attorneys said in court that it’s unlikely they’ll be ready for a Dec. 7 trial because there is too much material to go through. However, the attorneys have not filed motions to delay the trial.

The state agreed that more time would be beneficial, but said the trial shouldn’t be pushed back to accommodate holiday plans, calling it an important trial.
