Mother killed in hit-and-run in Jacksonville; family seeks answers

A family is hoping to get some answers after a mother was killed in a hit-and-run on Friday in Jacksonville.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Erica Milton, 33, was walking in the crosswalk at 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Memorial Park Road.

Witnesses told patrol a dark SUV or a Jeep struck Milton and then continued traveling westbound on Normandy Boulevard. FHP said emergency rescue personnel took Milton to UF Health, where she was later pronounced dead.

A family member who reached out to Action News Jax is hoping whomever left the scene during the crash will be arrested. The family member said Milton was a mother of two girls.

The driver is still unidentified, as charges are pending.
