Multi-vehicle crash involving semis blocked all lanes of I-95 North in St. Johns County on Thursday

Crash came amid heavy rain in the area in the late afternoon. Three people were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, a St. Johns Fire Rescue official said

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Traffic backed up on I-95 North in St. Johns County for hours late Thursday afternoon and early evening after semis, a bus, and several other vehicles were involved in a crash that occurred during heavy rain.

The crash occurred about 5 p.m. near mile marker 320, between State Route 16 and International Golf Parkway. It closed all lanes of the highway for a period of time before backing up traffic longer as cars snaked past the wrecks.

A spokesman for the St. Johns County Fire Rescue said three people were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
