JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Family and friends came together to remember a local high school football player who was shot and killed early Sunday morning during a prom after-party.
Coaches and players tell Action News that the teen’s name is Johnnel Johnson.
Another person was also shot at a house on Dawnridge Road and taken to the hospital.
More than 100 students came to the vigil for Johnson Sunday.
“I'm still in shock. It hasn't hit me yet. Still in shock,” said Nicholas Williams, one of Johnson’s classmates. “I'm trying not to cry. I'm trying to hold it in.”
Students were in shock and disbelief on Sunday as they wore t-shirts showing Johnson’s prom picture from Saturday.

Police are not confirming Johnson’s name, but they do say a person was shot and killed Saturday night.
Witnesses say there was a fight between two groups of students several weeks ago, and one group was retaliating at the after-party.
“It started in school and it finished out at school,” said Simone Smith, a classmate.
Smith says something needs to be done about the shooting death.
“He didn't bother nobody... they kill the child in cold blood. Cowards,” Smith said.
