Nassau County students are set to head back to school on Monday, August 24.
In an effort to help parents and students prepare for this new experience back to school amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nassau County School District provided a video to show families what to expect.
The video shows how students will be required to get on the bus – boarding back to front, while socially distanced. Students will also get off the bus from front to back.
Buses will be sanitized before each run.
Inside the classroom, students’ desks will be safely spaced out.
Each student will provide hand sanitizer as they enter the classroom and they will be expected to wipe down any devices they use, before giving it back.
The cafeteria experience will be a change as well, with kitchen staff temperatures being checked daily and all staff required to wear masks and gloves while preparing meals.
Safety markers will be placed on the ground to keep students six feet away from each other.
Students will sit with their class and shields will be placed at all tables for protection.
