KINGS BAY, Ga. — A member of the Navy stationed at Kings Bay has been arrested for sexual exploitation of a child, according to authorities.

NCIS was contacted Sunday by the Camden County Sheriff's Office about an incident reported in base housing.

Investigators said Don Robert Torres, 34, secretly installed cameras and had been viewing and recording juveniles when they bathed and used the bathroom.

"It's not something that you would expect from a sailor," said Korilynn Mendoza, who works near the base. "They're supposed to be people we look up to."

Investigators found cameras in the bathroom of the home, officials said. According to court records, authorities also recovered electronic equipment and 25 photos of the girls that were secretly taken.

Torres was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of unlawful eavesdropping and sexual exploitation of a child.

Torres is in the Camden County Detention Center. Officials are continuing to investigate.

Base officials say Torres was an active duty sailor who worked as an electronics technician.
