LOCAL NEWS: Navy hospital apologizes for staff's 'inappropriate' photos of newborns
Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services is investigating after reports that a dog was locked in a cage on a Jacksonville property for 48 hours.
Pet Rescue North, Inc. posted a photo of the dog on Facebook on Monday.
Several neighbors contacted Animal Care and Protective Services about the dog, according to the post.
According to the post, the dog was left outside in a cage on Hawkins Cove Drive West for more than 48 hours.
A few hours later, the pet rescue posted a video of the dog, in which you can hear whimpering.
Action News Jax visited the property Tuesday morning and saw an ACPS employee writing a report. The worker could only say that the agency is investigating.
We walked up to the home to see if we could talk with the dog’s owner and get their side of the story, but no one came to the door.
Action News Jax contacted JSO to see if officers were called to the home.
A spokesperson said officers visited the home and found no signs of distress.
“A resident was home with the dog playing with it when police responded. The dog appeared healthy. There were no issues, the dog is an outside dog, and the crate was clean. The dog had food and water. There was no reason to contact Animal Care and Control because nothing wrong was found," the spokesperson said.
