Jacksonville city animal control is investigating after a rash of attacks in a Springfield neighborhood.
Neighbors believe several pets have been killed by other dogs that escaped from a nearby home. Now they are worried for their children’s safety.
Home surveillance video shows the dogs chasing cats around a car and a cat jumping on a fence for safety and a dog trying to snatch it.
“The dog ran up to the porch and chased the cat up to the fence,” a man said.

Neighbors said the video was taken the same night that at least three pets were found dead. Margaret Taylor said her cat, Cheshire, was one of them.
“I came out Tuesday morning early and found him in my backyard,” Taylor said.
The dogs have collars on in the video and neighbors said they are someone’s pets that keep getting loose.
Taylor said she confronted the homeowner after her cat was found dead.
“I actually took Cheshire down there to show him what his dogs have done and he was pretty upset about it,” Taylor said.
A neighbor also said the dogs are causing property damage.
He woke up and found scratches across his car and said surveillance video showed the dogs jumping up on his car to try to get at cats.
Neighbors said they have filed several complaints with animal control.
Action News Jax reached out to the city and was told that there is an active investigation.
Taylor said she’s worried for not only other people’s pets, but for children’s safety.
“There’s a have a lot of small dogs that they walk around. There are also families that walk around with young children,” Taylor said.
They want the owner to be held accountable before the attacks escalate. “I would hope the owner would take responsibility for this so we don’t go there,” Taylor said.
Action News Jax went to the alleged owner’s home twice Wednesday to see what he had to say, but no one came to the door.
