JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Marvin Johnson said he's lived in Northwest Jacksonville for 50 years.

He said Thursday was the first time he had ever seen a body on Detaille Road. He was thankful his family wasn't home.

"I was so glad they wasn't here to witness a body on the ground like that," he said.

"I can't really reveal any new information. I can tell you it's still a really active homicide investigation," said Assistant Chief Chris Butler with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The victim was Johnathan Thomas.  Police said he was shot. He was just 16 years old.

A SWAT team was called and two men were taken into custody. JSO said they were questioned about the killing, but no one has been charged.

Johnson hopes for a quick arrest. He worries the teen's death will lead to more shootings in his outside his home.

"Even last night, I guess some retaliation or something, about 12:30 in the morning, we heard gunshots out here," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
