NS Mayport security closed all gates to base after unauthorized car got on base

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 9:55 AM: NS Mayport officials have given an all clear and all gates are reopened. “There is no threat to personnel or the installation,” the base stated in a social media post.

All gates were closed Wednesday morning for about 20 minutes after an unauthorized vehicle accessed the base.

“An elderly retired couple who did have authorized access to base did not hear or understand the gate sentry’s orders and continued driving, which triggered our security forces to swiftly respond as they’re trained and continuously ready to do,” an NS Mayport news release states.
