One lane of Main Street Bridge and pedestrian walkway to close beginning Monday

Closure for Riverfront Plaza-related improvements to last through January

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One lane of the Main Street Bridge and the pedestrian walkway will close beginning Monday, city officials said.

The closure, related to nearby Riverfront Plaza development, will last through January.

Southbound lanes on the bridge toward Riverplace Boulevard will be reduced to one lane, and the southbound pedestrian walkway will be closed for the duration of construction.

Pedestrians should follow posted detour signage for rerouted access.

Northbound traffic will remain open with two lanes throughout the project.

The construction is the first step in making a permanent pedestrian connection from the Main Street Bridge to the new Riverfront Plaza.

Motorists and pedestrians traveling over the bridge should anticipate delays and plan for alternate routes.
