ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The parents of a 20-year-old college student said they are celebrating the life of their youngest son after he was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said Brandon Gidado, 20, was killed after a car crossed over a median on St. Johns Parkway and hit a tree.
Driver Robert Borde, 20, and two passengers, Mitchell Garner, 21, Matt Bolen, 19 had minor injuries.
Gidado was not wearing a seatbelt.

“I was just in a total state of shock,” Gidado’s father Deji Gidado said. “That was the last thing I expected to hear because I saw him literally for a few minutes last night. He goes, ‘Dad, I’ll be right back, I’ll see you in a few.’"
Deji Gidado and his wife Tina Gidado said Brandon came home this weekend to celebrate Easter with his family.
They said Brandon was a student at Tallahasse Community College and had dreams of one day playing basketball for FSU.
He was a former high school basketball player in St. Johns County.

“He was full of life, very athletic,” Deji Gidado said. “He was a very gifted basketball player."
His parents said their faith in God is helping them through their loss.
They said they are choosing to celebrate Brandon’s life in his honor.
“He was wonderful,” Tina Gidado said. “He can give you anything. He’d give you his life.”
“He’s an amazing guy, just very loving,” Deji Gidado said. “He loved life.”
