Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital is using gaming systems to rehabilitate their patients. They have several Nintendo Wii systems and a Kinect for Xbox.
It’s a unique way they’re using technology to rehabilitate their patients.
Lisa Gill has multiple sclerosis, but she isn’t letting herself fall victim to her disease.
Gill was diagnosed in 2006. Since then, she’s lost strength in her arms and legs.
But she said she feels lucky, because her therapy is fun for her.
Cara Stewart, a recreational therapist, said the games are used daily.
“We use it for brain injury spinal cord injury stroke and orthopedics,” Stewart said.
There’s no cure for MS, but now Gill has a healthy dose of exercise on a regular basis.
And the hospital says they’re getting their pediatric patients up and walking using the popular app Pokémon Go.
